Unifying content

Encode your content once and deliver to the following platforms:

  • Adobe Flash (PC, Mac, and smartphones, including the Android and Symbian platforms)
  • Microsoft Silverlight
  • Apple iPhone
  • Apple Quicktime

No longer are you required to make client-specific encoding of your videos. Our webserver software makes the above conversions for you on-the-fly, thereby reducing storage requirements and transcoding times significantly.

Adaptive bitrate streaming

Adaptive bitrate streaming is a technique of monitoring a viewer's available bandwidth and CPU capabilities in real-time and adapting to deliver the best video than can be received at the time. This technique requires encoding a single movie at multiple bitrates.

Delivery

Video streams are divided and delivered in small segments over HTTP.

  • It's HTTP-based, so no problems with firewalls.
  • It's cache/proxy friendly, so you can use generic HTTP caches/proxies.
  • It's cheap, there is no need for additional media streaming services offered by hosting providers.

Standards

The videos are stored on disk in the industry standard (fragmented) MP4 format, following the  ISO/IEC 14496-12 ISO Base Media File Format specification.
